The Oklahoma quarterback was selected No.1 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in Thursday’s draft, making him the first player ever to be taken in the first round of both the NFL and MLB drafts, @washingtonpost reports.

Back in 2018, Kyler was selected as the No. 9 overall MLB pick by the Oakland Athletics, and he agreed to a deal that allowed him to finish his football career at Oklahoma. But after winning the Heisman Trophy, he decided to pursue a career in the NFL instead.

With a total 5,362 yards and 54 touchdowns under his belt, the choice may have seemed easy. But, in opting to play football, Kyler forfeited a $4.66 million singing bonus the MLB had offered him.

“I can’t put it into words,” Murray said after being selected. “It’s a dream come true.”

Murray has now signed a $35 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Even in all of this success, he still could not get a congratulations from the nation’s president. The no. 2 pick got one instead.

“Congratulations to Nick Bosa on being picked number two in the NFL Draft,” Donnie tweeted. “You will be a great player for years to come, maybe one of the best. Big Talent!”

Football fans swarmed Donnie’s mentions, accusing him of not congratulation Kyler because he is a black athlete. Despite the lack of support from the president, Kyler still expresses excitement for his new journey.

“It’s surreal,” he said. “I can’t wait to join my team and become the best to ever play this game.”
