AN YOU EVEN HAVE A PICNIC WHILE BEING BLACK … A black couple decided to celebrate their memorial day weekend by having a picnic with their dog at Kampgrounds of America in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. Not too long after they arrived the property manager, a white woman, pulls a gun out on the couple telling them to leave the private property because they did not have a reservation. The couple stated that “she then jumps out of her truck with a gun and proceeded to point it at the three of us, simply because we did not have to make reservations.” The couple said that they did not know that there were areas in the lake that were private and public and all she had to do was ask nicely. According to Mike Gast who acted as the official spokesman of Kampgrounds of American, stated that their company does not condone the use of firearms on their property. “Kampgrounds of America does not condone the use of a firearm in any manner on our properties or those owned and operated by our franchisees” The employee involved was relieved of her position. As seen in the video, the woman who has been identified as Ruby Howell, held a gun in her hand yelling at the couple.
