On September 11th, 2001, nineteen terrorists who were members of al-Qaeda, an Islamist extremist network, hijacked four commercial airplanes. In a coordinated attack, the hijackers intentionally flew two of the planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, and a third into the Pentagon. That was 18 years ago today. Many still mourn and grieve the loss of loved ones. As on every anniversary, thousands flock to the memorial site to pay respects. September 11th, 2001 will always and forever be a day that’s engraved in our minds and in our hearts.
