Jay-Z and Yo Gotti have threatened to take legal action against Mississippi over its harsh prison conditions.

The rappers wrote a letter to both the governor Phil Bryant and the Mississippi Department of Corrections Commissioner Pelicia Hall.

According to USA Today, the letter calls out lockdowns and adds that there aren’t enough staff members to serve the number of inmates. It alleged the prisoners

“are forced to live in squalor, with rats that crawl over them as they sleep on the floor, having been denied even a mattress for a cot.”

Yo Gotti also said the conditions in the Mississippi prison system are

“absolutely inhumane and unconstitutional.”

Roc Nation’s lawyer Alex Spiro said in a statement that they were in contact with people who were hands-on with improving the conditions.
