James “DJ GMJ” Johnson started pursuing his dj career in 1984. He started hanging out at a college radio station in Davenport Iowa KALA 88.5 watching other DJs and learning the basics. A year later he started as an intern and got the opportunity to become the youngest on air personality. After a few years on the air he started rocking clubs all over the city. One day he asked his PD if he could plug his turntable and mixer in the board and do live mixes. That’s when he knew the station would never be the same. He started getting offers to open up for hiphop artists such as the Notorious Big, Too Short, E40, Ruff Ryders Show and more. Now you can hear him in 7 different markets doing what he loves best and that’s mixing.
