NETFLIX WILL BOYCOTT GEORGIA IF THE ANTI-ABORTION LAW GETS PASSED!

NETFLIX IS USING THEIR PLATFORM TO LEVERAGE POLITICAL DEBATE!

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on May 7 signed a bill that would make abortion illegal after a fetal heartbeat is detected, prompting backlash from major actors and directors. Netflix says they will have to rethink their investment in Georgia if Georgia’s heartbeat abortion law actually gets passed. Netflix has agreed to help ACLU and other groups fight the new law that will essentially put a ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, with the exception of rape, incest, and the mother’s health.

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos has the following to say:

“We have many women working on productions in Georgia, whose rights, along with millions of others, will be severely restricted by this law. It’s why we will work with the ACLU and others to fight it in court. Given the legislation has not yet been implemented, we’ll continue to film there, while also supporting partners and artists who choose not to. Should it ever come into effect, we’d rethink our entire investment in Georgia.”

Netflix shoots a lot of their original series in Georgia, from “Ozark” to “Stranger Things.” If Netflix decided to pull out of Georgia entirely, studios including Third Rail would be affected.
