Disney has announced that Marvel Studios will not recast Chadwick Boseman’s character, T’Challa, for the upcoming sequel to “Black Panther,” multiple entertainment outlets are reporting. According to Entertainment Weekly and E! News, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, shared the news about “Black Panther 2” during Disney’s Investor Day on Thursday, more than three months after Boseman died from colon cancer at age 43. “Honoring Chadwick Boseman’s legacy & portrayal of T’Challa, @MarvelStudios will not recast the character, but will explore the world of Wakanda & the rich characters introduced in the first film,” Disney tweeted, adding that the film’s theatrical release is set for July 8, 2022.
Ryan Coogler will direct and write the sequel, as he did for the first film, the outlets reported.
