Stephon Clark was found shot seven times in his own backyard by police on March 18th, 2018 in Meadowview Sacramento, California. Clark was reportedly shot by police who mistook his cellphone for a weapon after they were responding to a call of a man in a hoodie who was reportedly breaking car windows.  Terrence Mercadal and Jared Robinet were the officers who shot and killed Mr. Clark; each shooting 10 times. Despite no charges being filed, the city of Sacramento agreed to pay $2.4 million to the sons of Stephon Clark. The money will reportedly be placed into a trust for his two sons, who are now 2 and 5 years old; they will be able to access the tax-free money at the age of 22.
