CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Hundreds of local children will have the opportunity to start the new school year with a fresh pair of shoes as ForKids prepares to host a special back-to-school giveaway in Chesapeake.
The community event is expected to provide new shoes to 400 children, helping families prepare for the upcoming school year while easing some of the financial pressure that can come with purchasing school necessities.
ForKids, an organization that works with families experiencing housing instability and homelessness, continues to support children and parents throughout the Hampton Roads region through programs focused on housing, education and family resources.
The shoe giveaway represents more than just providing a back-to-school essential. A new pair of shoes can help students enter the classroom feeling comfortable and confident as they begin another academic year.
With hundreds of children expected to benefit, the Chesapeake event is another example of local organizations coming together to make sure students have the resources they need to start the school year on the right foot.
