Virginia voters are preparing for the state’s August 4 primary election, which will determine party nominees for races heading into the November 2026 midterm election.
Eligible voters don’t have to wait until Election Day to cast their ballots. Early in-person voting began June 18, giving residents several weeks to participate ahead of the primary.
In Hampton Roads, voting locations and schedules vary by city, so residents are encouraged to confirm their registration status, polling information and local early-voting options before heading out.
The August primary is an important step toward November, when voters will decide who represents them in congressional and other races on the general election ballot.
