— Yung Miami is preparing to enter a new chapter of her career with her debut solo album, and the former City Girls star says she’s ready to prove critics wrong after navigating several challenging years in the spotlight.
The rapper has gained new momentum in 2026 thanks to the success of her single “Spend Dat.” Released earlier this year, the track has steadily climbed the charts and become one of the biggest solo records of her career. The song reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Miami her first solo Top 40 hit and surpassing the peak of City Girls’ breakout hit “Act Up.”
Now, Yung Miami is turning her attention toward a full-length solo project. While an official release date has not been announced, she has indicated that she plans to release the album before the end of 2026.
During a recent interview with Billboard, Miami delivered a confident message for those who have questioned whether she can succeed on her own, declaring that “people are about to eat their words.” The statement reflects the criticism and uncertainty she has faced since City Girls members Miami and JT began focusing on separate careers.
The transition hasn’t always been easy. Miami has previously discussed feeling abandoned by parts of the music industry after City Girls’ final album, RAW, and the duo’s eventual split. She said the change in industry support affected her emotionally while she worked to establish herself as an individual artist.
Miami has also spoken about battling depression during her solo journey. She said there were periods when she struggled emotionally while waiting to see whether her new music would connect with listeners. Continuing to work, record and surround herself with others became an important part of pushing forward.
The breakthrough of “Spend Dat” has helped change the conversation. The record has given Miami new momentum heading into her album and demonstrated that she can generate major chart success outside of City Girls.
