IS IT POSSIBLE FOR R.KELLY TO COME BACK FROM THIS?
Chicago prosecutors charged R. Kelly with 11 new felony counts of sexual abuse and assault! According to NPR, this includes ‘four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts of criminal sexual assault by force, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against an alleged victim between the ages of 13 and 16.’ If R.Kelly gets convinced of any of the four aggravated criminal sexual assault charges ALONE, he’s looking at a mandatory sentence of six to 30 years. There is speculation that a new victim was introduced to the docket during these recent charges, but reports are still unsure. Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg, Kelly’s attorney tweeted a response to the rumors:
“R. Kelly was NOT charged with a new case. He was recharged in an existing case, same alleged victim and time (a decade ago). It changes nothing”
In a follow-up tweet Greenberg wrote:
“These are the same conduct, just charged differently, same alleged victim, same time frame, same facts. We expect the same results.”
Kelly and his attorney Steve Greenberg have been denying all allegations of sexual misconduct for the last 25 years. His next court date is June 6th.
